The app is developed by DC Mobile Studio and available on Google Play. In addition to its main downloading function, XDownloader offers a built-in browser, download manager, support for various formats (MP4, MP3, JPEG, PNG) and resolutions (up to Full HD),as well as offline access to downloaded files. If desired, videos can be exported to the device or hidden in an encrypted storage, protected from prying eyes.
Supported platforms include TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and any site with embedded video. A nice bonus is the automatic detection of media files while simply browsing pages. Launch the built-in browser, go to a site, and the app will automatically offer to download the content.
There are two scenarios for using XDownloader. The first is downloading from regular websites. The user opens the built-in browser, goes to the desired site, and starts playing the video. The app automatically detects the media file and displays a download button. One click and the file is already on your device.
The second scenario is working with social apps. Suppose you found a video on Instagram or TikTok. Click “Share” → “Copy link”, open XDownloader, and the app will automatically offer to download the video found by the link. No extra steps required, everything is intuitive.
The built-in Download Manager allows you to manage downloads: pause, restart, delete, and download in the background. This is important when dealing with large files or weak network signals.
The developers paid special attention to security: downloaded files can be stored in an encrypted storage accessible only through the app. This is useful for those who care about privacy or simply don’t want photos and videos “floating” in the gallery.
But not everything is perfect. Users often complain about the abundance of ads: before downloading, after downloading, when exporting files. Google Play reviews also mention other issues: the need to recopy links, restrictions on direct saving to system folders. The developers, however, respond: they promise to add a folder selection option and optimize the UX.
An interesting case happened with user Husam Almasry, who purchased a "lifetime" license but then did not find the promised features. After corresponding with support and changing phones, access was restored. Maybe things aren’t so bad, but the aftertaste remains.
XDownloader officially disclaims any responsibility for users’ actions. It is stated that the app is not affiliated with TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook, and its use must comply with copyright laws. This means you can only download what is allowed.
Music, movies, TV series — are prohibited unless you have permission from the copyright holder. For personal use — it’s allowed. But distribution, especially commercial, may have legal consequences.
The privacy policy also states that the app collects device identifiers and may share them with third parties. The data is not encrypted and cannot be deleted, which raises privacy concerns, especially among European users.
The company DC Mobile Studio, based in Hong Kong and registered as HongKong Daocheng Network Technology Co. Limited, actively works with feedback. Responses to user reviews appear with a delay, but they do appear. Often these are recommendations to reinstall the app or contact by email xdownloader.feedback@gmail.com.
At the time of publication, the app has been installed over 5 million times, has a 4.6 rating on Google Play, and continues to be updated. On July 1, 2025, the developer made changes to the privacy policy, and on July 8, 2025, Google Play recorded suspicious activity, blocking the app page by IP 74.125.212.198. The consequences of this are not yet clear.
Nevertheless, XDownloader remains one of the most universal and technically advanced solutions for downloading and converting YouTube videos to mp3, images from the internet. And the fact that the developer listens to users inspires cautious optimism.
